Helyn Rain is a folk singer and storyteller from Driftwood, TX. Ten years ago, she moved to New York to further her acting and storytelling career. She left the city five years later and moved into a camper van. She then proceeded to travel the country, searching out vast deserts and hugging the coasts, learning to write songs. Her songs reflect this unpredictable motion and bring the listener deep inside these colorful worlds– simply, honestly and mysteriously. Other times, she hits you with a burner, lighting up the room with a clawhammer feel that seems to come straight out of her maternal Kentucky roots. Her voice is cutting, untrained but technical, intriguing and raw, and the girl knows how to tell a damn story.
Helyn Rain released her debut album The Night Between Us in February 2020 and her follow-up EP Pictures From the Dock in May 2020. She has been on tours with Wild Child, Walker Lukens, Twain, Langhorne Slim. In Austin, she has performed for attentive crowds at The Cactus Café and for Keeled Scales’ infamous house concert series at The Track House. She is also ½ of Rain and Left, a duo project with Jeffrey Left (Langhorne Slim, Bing and Ruth), with albums Like Cake and Ice Cream and Clapped and Cat-Called released in 2016 and 2018 respectively. She currently resides in the place of her birth, the blooming and beautiful city of Austin.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist and poet BeRn, calls her stuff ‘Frock’ – an eloquent mix of folk, punk angst, rock ‘n’ roll, feminism, ire, laughter and irrepressible spirit. Raw and uplifting, she takes to the stage with a fiery presence offering a heady mix of emotion and rebellion.
“One of my favorite times playing was in the main square in Havana, Cuba. On learning that I was a performer from Ireland I was given a guitar and I walked around the packed square singing and playing to all the punters in the bars and restaurants. It was amazing the response I received. I also played twice on the same bill as Patti Smith at the Fillmore West in San Francisco in the 90’s. Wowser” – BeRn
